Lyrics

There's a story that I like to think about often. It's during the last days of the Prophet ﷺ's life, and people say that, you know, they hadn't seen him and everyone was very worried. And while they were praying, he drew back his curtain and he just stood there looking at them. And they say his face was brightly illuminated and there was nothing more beautiful than his face when he looked at them on that day. And then he smiled and he motioned for them to continue the salah and then he closed his curtain. And that was the last time they saw him. The Prophet ﷺ passed away later that day. And I often think about that moment that if he drew back his curtain on my life today, there's nothing I wouldn't do just to see him smile. Darkness fell upon Medina tonight. People cried, for God had given his beloved messenger a choice. For so long he had struggled, now he'd won. The hearts of the best believers, a generation so strong. That moment he drew back the curtain and he gazed upon those he loved the most. And he smiled, and he smiled, his face was shining like the moon. There was nothing more beautiful than the light he brought to this world. Looking back now over 23 years, his message changed the world. People living lost in the wilderness, darkness overall, he came to revive the dead hearts he awoke. He brought justice, peace and love with amazing words from God that he spoke. That moment he drew back the curtain and he gazed upon those he loved the most. And he smiled, and he smiled, for he knew that they'd come so far, did so much to get close to him and Allah. But what if he was standing right in front of me? Would he cry? Would he take my hand and brace me in his arms with tears in his eyes? Would he say to me, why do you abandon my way? Did you not love me enough? Would he turn and walk away? Would he walk away? He drew back the curtain and he gazed upon my life today. Over a thousand years later and here I am trying oh so hard. There is nothing I wouldn't do for that moment in time just to see him smile. Like he drew back the curtain and he gazed upon those he loved the most. And he smiled, and he smiled, his face was shining like the moon. There was nothing more beautiful than the light he brought to this world. That moment, that moment, that moment, that moment he smiled.
